Moonriders is a Japanese new wave rock and pop band started in Tokyo in 1975 by Keiichi Suzuki (鈴木 慶一), who has also become globally known as a one of the composers for the Mother/Earthbound video game series, the composer for the Satoshi Kon anime film Tokyo Godfathers, and a former collaborator with YMO’s Yukihiro Takahashi in a duo called The Beatniks.

All of Suziki’s music, from Moonriders to Earthbound to the Beatniks, is absolutely jammed full of catchy melodies, interesting chord progressions, and more than a little bit of 20th century arty weirdness. This live rendition of the track Dynamite to Coolguy is no exception except with a laid back reggae-ish feel thanks to the solid bass groove and off-beat guitar chucks throughout. It’s a great version of a great song, and I hope you all like it too!
