Middle guy has the “Oh fuck, you’re taking a picture?” look. Truly timeless.
Or at least dating back to snapshot cameras.
This in no way is meant to diminish the gravitas of this image, but they really knew how to make quality clothing back then.
Shit had to be rugged, and your standard uniform was not functionally all that different from some rougher everyday wear. My mother has a Swiss Army surplus coat from the 1950s (long before her time, even), still in fantastic condition, that she wears. You hear similar stories with other army surplus. It’s not until the mid-Cold War, when military clothing changes to camo and miscellaneous utility instead of “Stay warm, minimize logistic footprint”, that you start to get less of that quality of surplus.
I would kill for one of those coats. Heck, those hats are pretty dope as well.
You could kill for one of them back in the day
Those were the days…

You can still get some great finds from military surplus sites. The older stuff is often plain, but newer stuff tends to be camo, which isn’t always, uh, stylish for everyday wear, lmao.
You don’t wear camo to the office?!?!
