There’s a video link of the offending commentary in the article. Kevin’s been the best we’ve had since Our Drunk Uncle Gary left the O’s, let’s hope that Kevin will stay on, but I can’t blame him at all if he decides to bolt. Soft admins cost this team far too much. Feels like there’s more to this than we know. I just don’t get it…

Given that Kevin already does work for ESPN, I wonder if Angelos was trying to flex some authority not realizing that he’s probably just expediting the inevitable.

I think you’re onto something there. As owner of MASN. John showing Kevin “who’s the boss” sounds about right. I’m slightly surprised by Kevin’s return. Though I know he’s a professional and damn fine at his job. In the end he works for John Angelos… I’ve been pretty okay with the way John had stayed (for the most part) out of the baseball side. I think he felt pressure to be more of a public figure because many many fans were demanding it after a year and a half or so of staying entirely hidden. Then the MLK Day Connolly thing and the ensuing war on media defenders of Connolly… I liked him better hidden, to be honest… He kinda just let the boys do their work… But, here we are now, eh?

Steve Melewski has been on the radio the past couple games, so I was a touch worried for KB. Couldn’t blame him if he just went on into greener fields to find greener grass. I’m almost exclusively a radio listener and haven’t missed a game since sometime in 2013. It’s a rare and welcome treat when Kevin comes on. I don’t understand the Kevin Brown thing. Especially when we have Melanie Newman on the air, literally talking right over top of key plays during the ballgame. The play on the field should should come first. The obscure facts and tidbits should come at the pauses in the game. Though I couldn’t tell you how many times she’s clubbed the play with me trying like hell to hear the ump or the crowd reaction or the pop of the glove or bat to try and figure out what happened… Well. I don’t think she’s ever been suspended for it… and with that being the ultimate sin in radio broadcasting, I just don’t understand it. The television broadcasters are there watching the game WITH the fan… Radio broadcasters are there to watch the game FOR the fan and describe the plays on the field. Kevin is a damn good play by play guy when he’s on. I’d hate to see him go.

I despise corporate-lead drama and bullshit surrounding my baseball. And I hope this fades fast. Doubt their gonna give him any public apology or anything, though… I guess their approved-of statement is all there’ll be.

      Go O’s!
