I honestly don’t care if somebody wishes me a happy/merry/terrible <holiday I don’t celebrate here>. However, if it is off topic that seems like a fair complaint. The OP there seems like they had issue with Thanksgiving not being relevant to the sub, that seems fair.

If it was a US-centric sub like /newyork or something, sure go ahead. But I am guessing that is not the case.
