I tried this once. I bought a book on astral projection. I didnāt want to use drugs to achieve this, and Iām not someone who just experienced it naturally. The advice said that you usually leave your body through your head, chest, or your feet. I spent many nights concentrating and trying to leave my body. Then one day while I was at home with a couple of friends playing pool, I drifted off to sleep on my couch for a second, (or so it would have seemed to my friends.) I didnāt gently float off from my body and then look down at it to perhaps become scared, (which sometimes happens so Iām told.) Like the rest of my life, it was very different for me.
I exploded from my body, and I couldnāt tell you from what spot. I was propelled at an incredible rate of speed! It was like being strapped to the head of a bullet! I was repulsed that my āastral bodyā had no real shape or form. It was like I was some sort of electricity, like what you see in an electric arc of a Telsa coil. I was speeding towards the far side of the thirty-foot-long room I was in. I knew that when I reached that wall, I would pass right through it. My thoughts were āghost-likeā or at least thatās the best I can describe it. I thought, āWho am I?ā, āWhat am I?ā, and although I could see everything in the room, I was in another ādimensionā, a place I had been before, but thatās another long story. As I mentioned my life has been ādifferent.ā
Twice in my life, Iāve had an unexplained experience. Time has stopped. It was like someone pressed pause on the video. If someone was watching me, they would have noticed nothing. I would just have been walking across a room, but for me, the whole video froze. The place I was in was like being in some kind of dream sequence in a movie. Both times there was this low gong of a bell, (the sound a buoy makes on the sea in the distance on a foggy night.) It was as if when you hit this large bell, it stopped time itself. Both times āsomeoneā spoke to me, not aloud, but in my mind. I donāt know if it was God, speaking to me, but whoever it was isnāt trapped in time. This voice came from outside of time.
As I sped toward the wall during my astral projection, I was there in that place, and this time I could hear other things. There was no voice talking to me, but I could hear the rattling of chains. I call this ādimensionā the land of the dead. Itās outside of time, but itās here occupying the same āspaceā weāre in. Call them ghosts, entities, or whatever you choose, but itās not unoccupied. I could hear that low gong of a bell and this time; I realized that I didnāt know enough about this āplace.ā I had the distinct feeling that this was a dangerous place. It was like diving into the ocean, and who knows what kind of fish are swimming about there.
I was reaching the wall on the far side of the room, and I knew Iād pass right through it, and that I could go anywhere t the speed of thought. I pondered: āWhere should I go?ā, āWhat should I do?ā Then I thought: āThis is dangerous. I want to go back.ā And with that thought, ābamā I was back in my body. I awoke from that brief experience as if I had just nodded off for a second.
I had read that your astral body is attached to your physical body by a āsilver threadā and if that thread is broken, you die.
I know I could experience astral projection again if I wanted to. But, until Iām ready to actually be prepared to risk dying, I donāt want to chance it. First, I need to know what kind of weapons I can take with me to play that kind of āvideo game.ā The āland of the deadā is nothing like Disney Land to take a trip to, just for fun!
one questionā¦ what book were you reading / following?
I bought that book from a new age book store in Greenwich Village in the early 1980s. It was called something like āBeginners Guide to Astral Projectionā or āHow to Astral Projectā but if I still have that book it would be in a box in the basement. Sorry I canāt be more exact. I was never a drug user, not even pot, despite that it was all around me. Friend all told me I was naturally high, and warned me not to try psychedelics because i was the type who might not come back from a trip. I never did try.
