I’d still like to find another clip I like better, but so far I keep coming back to the press on convoy clip. Before this setup I had a Dr. Jones H17Fx with XHP50.3 HD and OP reflector. That setup went into an S8, which I think suits it a little better.
looks great, thanks for sharing your mods
for future reference, I buy sapphire lenses for under $10 here… Considerably less expensive than the Esslinger options.
Wow, thanks, that is much cheaper. I might put them in a few more things at that price.

I am also a big fan of the Convoy Black Clip. I clip it on the battery tube on the end just before the tailcap, I feel that it holds better there.

The 20mm one? If so I’m also interested in your switch mod!
Yeah, this switch. I posted a longer reply to Adair below.
I’m glad to find someone else that likes the stock convoy clip!
Awesome build! Please tell us more about that switch mod
It’s this switch from Convoy (can we post Ali links directly here?)
I’ve put it in a couple smaller convoys now. The first one was out of necessity after I shorted the battery and melted a 1288. I had one of the stock switches from an M21C since I put an omten PBS101 in there. It fits on the 16mm switch board (barely), but the stock washer has too small of an inner diameter for the switch to fit through. It’s also a little taller. So you could ream out the stock washer, but it seemed easier to print one with different dimensions out of PETG. Making it slightly thicker ensures that you still have it deep enough to tail stand too.
After I tried it once I liked the feel, so I put it in this S2+ as well. I don’t know if it has lower resistance or better durability. I will say I haven’t melted one yet! More than I can say for the 1288s, but it’s not really the switch’s fault.
Edit: I ended up making a thicker spacer; this time I took pictures.
Nice setup. Maybe an obvious question, but do you ever use this light on 100% and how does it do with heat management given the wattage and metal? Thanks!
Just for short bursts. It really is too much for the host. 33% is good though.
