I found this blog post useful for explaining how to interact with Lemmy via Mastodon.
It’s really interesting to be able to have this functionality within Mastodon. However, I created a Lemmy account as trying to follow communities from Mastodon was a little bit spammy, as every comment is a boost from the community in my timeline.
Yeah, this post/article is great at explaining the current state of things, but I would not want to engage with Lemmy this way more than like once a month.
If one is interested in Lemmy, a second account is well worth it to get the community-optimized UX it provides.
Is this like some generational thing where people are used to logging in to so many things with their google account that they hate making new accounts? Like sure you can interact with lemmy from mastodon, but the UIs are so different that it’s an awful experience, so I don’t know why you would actually want to do that.
This is very cool that you can interact between these two sites. I’m going to stick with my Lemmy account for now since this seems like it’s much easier to do on the web browser version of Mastodon and not so much on the apps!
As another user said I also don’t like that individual comments show up as boosts, and on one of the three mastodon apps I’ve been trying (lol) it doesn’t show what the comment is replying to
I’d like to be able to use the same account for Lemmy / PixelFed / Mastodon with the native UIs for each. Something that will hopefully be possible in the future!
That would be amazing
Kind of like how you can use your Facebook or Google account to create logins for different sites? Seems like it would be entirely possible to have a “Fediverse” login.
