“Half awake, we ate the blood and flesh of our murdered God. Then we sang, for what is dead will never die. Our God is eternal, has come back from death, sees and knows all, and is all powerful.”
Translation: I went to church on sunday, partook in the eucharist, then we sang a few hymns.
Christianity is very weird if you actually take a moment to think about it, especially the obsession with blood and cannibalism.
Most likely the Eucharist was an invention of Paul after a dream he had. There is a Jewish ritual at passover that has aspects of it. There were also mystery cults that had the idea of eating your god. Paul believed that other gods existed so it’s possible he had heard of these mystery cults practice and lumped it together with Jesus.
If the New Testament were written today the publishing company would be sued for copyright violations and critics would call it derivative. Not a single idea or event or word doesn’t come from early sources, nothing is unique about it. Which to be fair, writing fiction isnt easy.
Apparently the Eucharist used to be psychedelic, which explains a bit
Christianity is a blood cult.
Judaism is not always about “just don’t drink too much”, heh. When celebrating Purim they’re supposed to drink until they cannot tell the difference between “cursed be Haman” and “blessed be Mordecai”.
This is one of the cases where OP shows they don’t really know what they’re talking about. Drinking, singing and eating are like 75% of the holidays. Though, if we’re supposed to take “Don’t drink to much” as “Don’t make me drive you to the hospital”, then maybe it works.
Heck, Pesach has a 4 drink minimum! Every Friday we start Shabbos by drinking one glass of wine. There’s Kiddush clubs in NYC where (mostly hassidim) gather to do Kiddush… then do it again and maybe again. It’s wise stuff to celebrate the work week being over with a glass of wine.
Also, Purim rules. You get dressed up in costumes, eat cookies and get wicked drunk. Fun time.
Neither is in Christianity as temperance was a goal and gluttony a sin.
Yah and they got rid of all the fun holidays.
Shame. Ah well, more wine and cheesecake for me.
Gut Shabes!!
It’s not until tomorrow night but thanks it’s been a heck of a week so I’m really looking forward to it!
The list is out of order for one…
