1. This nation hasn’t had the best track record in terms of protecting free speech and i most definitely do not agree with nabbing people over so long as it does not pose a grave, probable security threat to the institution and first and foremost the people.

  2. It is not exactly a hidden knowledge that you cannot insult royalty, or touch on 3R issues and the laws apply very extensively in an arbitrary manner. There were many more public figure such as Anwar, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Kit Malam, Hannah Yeoh, Tommy Thomas, Rachel Brown they were all probed under similar laws for far less.

  3. Speech made outside of Parliament and the Court are not privileged information and therefore will not be shielded from the long arms of the Executives. To claim political persecution will naturally imply that this is a free-speech issue.

  4. He mentioned that investigations were sped up and finalised in 3 days - it isn’t exactly hard to lay a charge considering the law has been applied extensively over the past few decades.

  5. laying charge =/= finding of guilt when in reality due processes are still to be followed and until the finding of guilt he is a free man subject to bail conditions imposed by the bail magistrate.
