Irony is a pastor asking for money to solve church problems, and advising you to pray to solve yours.
That’s not irony, that’s just hypocrisy
And the starvation army they play
And they shout and they clap and they pray
Till they get all your coin on the drum
Then they tell you when you’re on the bum
You will eat (you will eat) by and by (by and by)
In that glorious land in the sky (Way up high)
Work and pray (Work and pray), live on hay (Live on hay)
You’ll get pie in the sky when you die
holy shit is this where “pie in the sky” comes from?
After looking into it, yes! Joe Hill wrote this song in 1910, these lyrics are from the song “the Preacher and the Slave”. It probably stems from the 1910 Spokane Free Speech Fight, where the IWW was butting heads with the Salvation Army and the government of Spokane
I really hope so!
“Jesus he knows me and he knows I’m right…”
He doesn’t want Kurt Cobain for a sunbeam, though…
Reminds me of a video of Silas Malafaia, a brazilian
manipulative asshole crookpastor, preaching that the faithful should not denounce or report criminal pastors: “Is your pastor a thief? A criminal? Don’t like it? Leave the church and find another one. (…) Don’t mess with God’s anointed.”I know it’s not sensitive to say, but how fucking stupid do you need to be to buy that shit? Unreal.
They (the church) cares more about image than criminals in their ranks, Wouldn’t want word getting out father McFeelly likes touching alter boys.
Fuuuuuuck…this is good.
Don’t get me wrong I hate the church but this just isn’t accurate. Churches do tons of work to help the poor, including financial aid. At least where I’m from anyway
Prayers are not working to help or stop anything.
