On June 1, 2025, Joss was approached by a neighbor who allegedly yelled homophobic slurs at Joss before shooting and killing him. The suspect was arrested shortly afterward.[7][10][11][12] The two neighbors have been subject to a longstanding feud going back years with police being called multiple times.[13] His death occurred just hours after he uploaded an Instagram video of himself walking around Austin and noting how he already recorded lines for 4 King of the Hill episodes.

Kern de Gonzales stated on Instagram afterwards that various people in the area had for years verbally assaulted them with homophobic slurs and threats to burn down their home.[14] Kern de Gonzales went on to say that the house had burned down after years of threats from their neighbors, threats to which the police had not responded, even after the threats had been reported by Gonzales and Joss.[11] On Joss’ Facebook page, Kern de Gonzales described the attack as a homophobic hate crime.

San Antonio Police Department released a statement saying “Our investigation has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that the Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation.”

This seems like one of those terms without any clear origin, and the Wikipedia doesn’t list this potential use as one of them. I’m not saying it isn’t true (I don’t know), but @Quilotoa@lemmy.ca you could edit the title to something like “the term ‘blockbuster’ may have come from”. Or even just add “[disputed]” to the title

A different calendar app might have something better

If you have a common pattern, you could create a custom calendar with that pattern. For example, if you always want 3 reminders for this schedule:

• 10 minutes before
• 1 hour before
• 12 hours before

You can make a calendar with that preset, and then for any events that need that pattern, you set it to that calendar

That’s actually around -18°C (to -23°C)

So it is in line with everyone else

I believe Waymo has a better set of sensors (Lidar + Radar+ Cameras instead of just cameras), more processing power, and more research / time / resources spent on it compared to Tesla.

So it’s not that we aren’t ready for self driving taxis, but rather about which cars are ready to provide that service

So it looks like groups functionality is coming up, and it is separate from collections, which is getting a redesign. I’ll have to investigate exactly what those new changes are, but it is exciting regardless!

That’s a good point, it looks like one of the other admins has locked the extra post and redirected users to the post with more votes. In the future I’ll do something similar based on which one was posted first

There are a few self hosted dead man’s switches which might work in this case.

Easiest might be to give passwords to a trusted friend with technical experience and a list of the important things that you want done.

The “crosspost” label is more of a flag that there is another post with the same URL somewhere. If I posted the same article in a community multiple times, it would have multiple “crosspost” labels for that community. I agree that this could be done in a better way

I assume there was a bug or loading issue where the user posted this post twice. Maybe their app thought it didn’t go through the first time and tried posting it again.

I don’t have a preference personally. The only issue would be if you make a whole bunch of posts all back to back (5+), that could flood someone’s chronological feed.

I’m not sure about collections, but there’s supposed to be a groups feature in the works.
