    Bad for the fed NDP? That’s really not our problem, especially if we are trying to deaffiliate

      No, it’s bad for the Alberta NDP. As much as the Alberta Party wishes it were the one that’s been challenging the UCP, it hasn’t been. It’s been irrelevant. Trying to turn the ANDP into the Alberta Party is a mistake.

        Why?

        Alberta basically only votes for the PCs, which actually means the Cons could totally ignore them and actually come out ahead.

        An Alberta party could actually be good for enabling a more progressive PC party and increasing Alberta’s representation on the national stage.

          Because the Alberta Party exists and is irrelevant. If that kind of vision got people excited, well, it’s had plenty of opportunity. Plus trying to move the party away from the base of support it’s built up so far is likely to cause a lot of internal strife.
