Found smash/totk on fitgirl repacks but it uses yuzu which requires a switch. Not spending 300 on an ageing console atp, is there any workaround?

You don’t require a switch to use yuzu. You only require the keys and firmware which you also can get elsewhere.

yuzu requires keys which you’re supposed to officially dump from your own console. you can just pirate them.

You can get yuzu from their website, and the bios files and game roms from the usual suspects/ your favorite places online.

ok, thank you. Only reason I’ve been asking is due to the fact that it takes over an hour to compile shaders on each boot so I thought I was missing something

Yuzu and the other popular switch emulator, Ryujinx, may run better or worse depending on your PC specs–compiling shaders is normal on boot up but mine never takes more than a minute or two at most so an hour is extremely long.

Each emulator, Yuzu and Ryujinx, have varying performance with different games but run most games well.

Yuzu typically has games running better faster because the project isn’t aimed to be a true simulation of the switch or super accurate like Ryujinx is.

You can checkout both to see which one you like of course.

Update your Yuzu application to the latest version. It stopped recompiling for me and simple just loaded the shaders on every boot of the game. Boot times into the game went from ~45s to 2s every time.

I want to support this. SteamDeck is amazing with enulation. Is it perfect? No! Occasional glitches and graphics issues, but a really handy and easy option.

You just need the prod keys, title keys and firmware. You can download all of them.

But don’t use the fitgirl rips, find the xci files directly.

You definitely can! I’m using Yuzu on Linux with an jurassic 1050Ti and it works perfectly. I basically play Mario Kart 8 and BotW (for now, TotK in the queue) and never touched an actual Switch in person (seriously! I’m Brazilian and these things are hell expensive here).

You should switch to CEMU for BotW realistically, it runs much better and the emulator is more mature

Might be hard if you’re already far in the game, but I’d give it a try nonetheless

Yuzu doesn’t require a switch. You just need a switch it to dump decription keys but you can find them online pretty easily The file are called prod.key

If you want to play the breath of the wild, it will run much better on the Wii emulator - Cemu. Also super easy to setup and you can find prepackaged on fit girl.
