Hi, I wanted to ask about the police here. I tried to ask for help yesterday, when we wanted to report a thief. I had to call 114 multiple times, because they were busy and asked me to call back… the third time when they asked me to call back again, I told them I’ve been told the same twice before. So they finally talk with me, and tell me they can’t do anything, because we didn’t see the person actually stealing & I have to report it online. We had the thief nearby for the whole time I tried to get a hold of them, but nothing.

I am from Eastern-Europe, where police gets paid less and isn’t as praised as here, but when I want to report something, they immediately do the paperwork and try to help. Why is it so different here? Do I really pay this high amount of tax to be told to report stuff online? Which, by the time I get home and get to sit down in front of my computer to actually report it, is a lost cause.

I am really not sure and been wondering, because this was my first experience here with police, and it was a bit upsetting. Especially the part when they ask me to call back, not even once haha.

Well it is true though. We might as well cut the policeforce in half, like what difference would it make?

Also what if you are elderly? Not everyone knows how to report online (or has someone to help them with that), or that it is even a possibility.

Like at one point you seem satisfied of the high taxes, but at the same time you don’t care about the money being used sub optimally? Makes no sense.

So because they could not use ressources on a “thief” you did not actually witness stealing, we should cut the policeforce in half? Thats not childish at all. Are you familiar with Danish law at all? You are aware that people have rights?

And how do you deduce that the money is used sub optimally? Do you know what the police was doing that was less productive than investigate a minor crime you did not actually witness?

Fint sidespor du roder dig ud i. Har intet med noget som helst af det jeg skrev btw.

You are saying that, not me. I am not talking about a singular case, but overall.

And how do you deduce that the money is used sub optimally?

We pay some of the highest taxes in the world and they can’t even pick up the phone properly or service people. My mother once called them when someone was ACTIVELY trying to force-open her door. The burglars refused to leave after she yelled at them, and started kicking the door in. What did the police do? They ignored her and told her to file a report online after they’d get it and steal her stuff. How is that acceptable. I’ve had way better encounters with Police in Bulgaria for crying out loud.

And yes, I think we should hold the police accountable. We pay a lot of taxes, so that is literally the least we can do.
