No, but you need an academic study to even get your foot in the door with these fucking CEOs and their decisions based on “feels.”

Academic study with evidence is about the only way you can even get them to fucking listen, and even then, it’s a crapshoot.

Research like this isn’t aimed at us, it’s aimed at these fucking dipshit executives who don’t give a damn anyway.

They literally own media companies, so you have to fight their bullshit with actual data proving them wrong. Even then, it’s an uphill battle, because, once again, they literally own media companies and push their narrative as “truth.” Most of them couldn’t give a flying fuck about evidence. Research and evidence in the public sphere is literally the only way to fight them and their lies.

Source: Oil companies knew about Climate Change as far back as the 1970’s, and instead of acting, they spent a shitload of money to cover it up so it wouldn’t hurt their business model. We did tons of research to fight those dickweeds, too, and we still haven’t won that argument.

2nd Source: RIAA wanted to sue Limewire for more money than existed in the global monetary system at the time. How do you even get so unhinged that you think it’s rational to sue for more money than there is money that exists. Research and evidence is the only fight for this bullshit feels-based business management.

They still won’t listen; they want an excuse to raise subscription costs again while using it as a means of lobbying Congress to pass bills that favor them…

Duh. Always thought it was stupid back in the day how companies like Viacom removed CLIPS of their TV shows from YouTube.

You know what happens when I see a clip of a TV show that I like? I want to go see the full episode.

Fucking idiot executives just figuring this out. Though not all of them have as they still remove clips sometimes.

Literally the only advertisement that most people still tolerate and these fuckers are like “no! We didn’t spend money on it, it can’t be good!”

The single reason I bought a Steam Deck instead of a console was because it would let me pirate games. And now I have more than 50 games on my Steam account. I still pirate games but there are games that are reasonably priced and not made by a multi-billion dollar company and I just buy them.

I didn’t even buy a Steam Deck, I just switched to Linux, which is essentially what you did, just expensively.

I mean the steam deck is portable though. It’s not the same thing. Also you can pirate on windows too. It’s actually easier.

My laptop is pretty dang portable. It may not fit in a pocket or what have you, but I carry a backpack anyway. And does windows provide emulators? I just pulled up a huge list, right on Discover Software Center and there are at least a couple different emulators for every major (and even some minor) console, handheld, arcade, and even a DOS emulator for DOS games. Hell, I even have Space Cadet Pinball on this thing. Yeah I’ve pirated on windows, and it’s not as easy, unless you’re talking about music production software, but that’s a whole other beast. Don’t get me wrong, Steam Deck is awesome and I would love to get one, but $650 is a hefty chunk of change for a lot of people, and considering I’m trying to save up for a Framework, I’m not interested in spending that kind of money right now.

I’m not even sure what the point you’re trying to make is any more, but gaming on a laptop without a table is uncomfortable, which to me makes it less portable than the steam deck.

Other people are allowed to buy whatever they like.
