The volume and severity of police-reported crime has been on "an upward trend that began in 2015," Statistics Canada said in a report released last week.
I’m not sold on this whole crime getting out of control thing, at least the data doesn’t support it if you take even a medium, let alone long view.
The various crime severity indexes are all still below baseline (2006), and the crime rate is still in the 5800s per 100,000. Crime rate and severity fell (tended down) for 20 years from 1991 from over 10,000 per 100,000 to the 5X00 range where it has been since 2011.
