Legacy media companies employ cheaper, ad-supported models, bundles and more, though price hikes have shown more immediate results toward profitability.
Netflix won’t be able to compete for long though, as Disney is basically buying most of the popular content. The way content licensing works (with exclusives, etc) just doesn’t allow for a free market. The only way to have a free market is if all streamers have the same content library and they have to compete on quality, service, etc.
