I just don’t “get” Minetest devs decisions to change the name and make themselves more distinct from Minecraft.
That was the appeal in the first place. If you’re not trying to be a Minecraft clone, you’re just another ripoff that doesn’t come close.
MineTest came close, but now they’re going in a different direction? Sounds like a self inflicted death spiral for the project…😳🤦♂️

@[email protected] I do get it. The “test” part always underscored the main issue people had with it: it didn’t feel like a game, it felt like a tech demo.
@[email protected] it felt like Garys Mod, but for block game. I like that aspect.
The Minecraft connection made it more worthy of trying for me.
If I saw it with its current name, I wouldn’t have touched it because id assume it was another really bad ripoff.
@[email protected] Yeah, but without the breakout hits like Prop Hunt or TTT, Garry’s Mod would have stayed in obscurity.
Even I, definitely a techy person and interested in a libre Minecraft replacement, have bounced off of it regularly because it was simply not an enjoyable game.
Which content packs have compatibility with which other content packs is completely intransparent. Let alone balance considerations and stuff. Who knows if I have to run this on bare-bones Minetest or Mineclone (1,2,3?)?
@[email protected] for sure, I haven’t dove deep into all the different content packs and mostly have stuck to 2 or 3 of the Minecraft clone ones but that does sound frustrating and confusing.
These changes they’re making won’t fix that though as far as I can tell.
