New video, with a chance to win an Atari 2600 game!

@[email protected] finally watched the video yesterday.
First thought: That’s some impressive games for a 2600.
Then I looked up if those games were available as digital download and found out that most of them require a Harmony Card. That was a no for me then. And I was a lot less impressed…
Not only is this limiting the user to buy either a real cartridge version or an expensive flash media from overseas. It also feels like cheating to me to rely on modern hardware add-ons to even run the software.@[email protected] Melody boards can be emulated by Stella IIRC. So ROM download makes sense. A Harmony cartridge is a good idea anyway, in my opinion, if you have real hardware. But ymmv. Melody doesn’t add that much to the 2600 hardware. It can emulate Sara, DPC and DPC+ and also do all the bankswitching. But you are still massively limited by the TIA.
Also the Audacity Games do NOT use Melody boards.@[email protected] yes I know. I’ve played Draconian on emulation. But that’s not the same as real hardware.
@[email protected] but then I would suggest getting the full cartridge. And all Champ Games have demo ROMs to try out before you buy. Those you can play on the emulator if you don’t have a Harmony. If you like the demo, you can buy the cartridge.
