Summary

At a European summit in Budapest, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the UK’s “iron-clad” support for Ukraine amidst concerns over potential shifts in U.S. aid following Donald Trump’s election victory.

European leaders, including Hungary’s Viktor Orban, emphasized the need for Europe to take more responsibility for its defense, with Orban cautioning against over-reliance on the U.S.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned of the threats posed by Russia and its allies, while Starmer urged Ukraine’s allies to strengthen their commitment to supporting Kyiv.

“We’ll keep taxing our people and cutting welfare to the needy to fund this proxy war on Putin. We shouldn’t really be spending, have just announced a 40bn black hole in the nations finances, but this is too good a bargain to resist”

Yeah. Obviously, Mr. Starmer should take a sensible page from one of his predecessors.

      And then nothing went wrong.

The good news is that instead of cheering for death and bombs at some one else’s expense, you can volunteer to fight with Ukraine, although they prefer people with experience I think they’re increasingly flexible these days.

        Go well tough guy !

Something tells me they wouldn’t wan a 47-year-old who has two severe illnesses he’s dealing with and doesn’t have the energy to walk more than about 30 minutes without having to rest for two hours. And also, I’ve never fired a gun. And I don’t speak Ukrainian and I have no money for a plane ticket to get over there and I’m sure there are plenty of other reasons.

So no, I don’t think that is the good news.

Also, I’m not cheering death. It is not my fault that Putin invaded Ukraine. I just think he needs to be stopped because he’s a fascist dictator and letting fascist dictators take whatever countries they feel like is, in most people’s eyes, a bad thing. Your mileage may vary.

As an American, you are 10000 miles away. Your military industrial complex is making bank, and you haven’t committed a single soldier.

            Shut. The . Fuck. Up.

As a Russian, you are losing this war. You don’t get to have a vote, you’ll get conscripted against your will and will be gone within 3 months.

Just a friendly reminder that in the real world, the country that cancelled its presidential elections this year and is conducting forced mobilization is Ukraine. In Russia, the presidential elections were held six months ago and the forced mobilization ended two years ago.

Oh i thought that according to .world’s lore it’s NK soldiers fighting for the bowl of rice there… I’ll have to educate myself better with your mythology. Anyway, in real world draftees were deployed there exactly because it wasn’t warzone. Could you please provide some links to proof that they are actively used there right now?

Edit: well, i think that some things should be clarified for people who would be reading this in future. Conscription (draft) and mobilization is two different things. The first (conscription) means compulsory military training for young males of specific age which fit for military service. You shouldn’t be used in active military action if you’re conscrpited. Both Russia and Ukraine had draft before the war, with a military age from 18 till 27, inherited from Soviet Union. After the beginning of the war Russia has raised upper limit of its military age to 30 and Ukraine has abandoned draft as such. The second (mobilization) is forced military service with the goal of taking part in war action. Russia had one round of mobilization in the end of 2022. Ukraine has general mobilization non-stop from 2022. Both mobilizations caused crisises, although pretty different ones as Russia has its borders open while Ukraine has its borders closed for military fit males.

You do know I have control over none of that, right?

Also, I think you need to pay attention to our civility rules in the sidebar.

Also also, considering I am emigrating to Britain, I’ll be a lot closer to Ukraine. Where are you?
