saw this guy burrowing next to a race track, what’s it doin? trying to get outta the heat?

i’ve got a solitary bee living in a flower pot on my balcony. apparently it belongs to this genus: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megachile
they build little burrows to protect their eggs for the winter and are completely harmless.
I read the first line of that wiki page as
“the genius megachile” 🤣
