Personally, I don’t love anything as much as I love joints. A joint is the most wonderful thing in the world. Pure bliss from beginning to end, everything from breaking down the weed to twisting it and finally getting that first lungful… fuck I love joints. Anyway what about y’all?

I’m in western Europe, where hash or herb is always mixed with tobacco. Yeah yeah I know, boooo. But hey, that’s a cultural thing with several origins.

I wanted to quit that 25 yo habit last year and managed to totally get rid of tobacco thanks to dry herb vaporizers. Convection and conduction, session or on demand, I can now choose different ways for different moods.

One thing’s sure, the taste and the high are waaaaaaay more pleasing.

I was at a wedding last weekend and everybody (most of my smoking buddies) was smoking joints. At one point, I was curious to see how it felt like again. It was atrocious, disgusting, awful. I even tried a pure joint and the taste of combustion is just not for me anymore.

Well, I discovered dry herbal vaporizers about a decade ago. Bought my first started making accessories for it… and the rest was history.

These days I have literally countless dry herbal vaporizers in my collection. Aside from edibles, dry vaping is the only way I do it. In order to avoid building up a “tolerance” to the device, I make it a habit to cycle through devices once or twice a year switching to something else (sometimes more powerful cloud chasers, other times very discrete under-powered handheld devices).

I truly enjoy switching vaporizers because it allows me to reset my habits (load sizes, temperatures used, draw rate, etc). Sometimes I can cut back to less than a gram a month (once or twice a day medicating) and other times I can ‘burn’ through a lot more lol.

When it comes to the style of dry vaporizer, sometimes I enjoy direct draw, or I enjoy vaporbonging with a waterpipe. For social gatherings, I pull out my Arizer XQ2 and start filling balloons for friends so everyone gets their own bag of vapor to enjoy at their own pace.

      This is da wae.

Joints are cool when I’m with friends but I can’t imagine smoking daily without my vape. There’s no smell, no dizziness, no foul mouth and I can easily load 0.05g which does get me high enough for a typical evening.

I have two vapes, one of them I can put into a bong and I’m getting ready to buy a third.

Tell me which devices you had and what you’d like different in your next device, plus a budget - I’d be happy to point you in a direction. My position in the industry has allowed me to handle literally dozens of devices for the business, and my friend who also works very high up in the industry has literally every dry herbal vaporizer made in the past 20 years, plus some that were prototypes and never released to the public.

I have a fun unbiased opinion of countless dry herbal devices hahaha

What’s your opinion on the Fury Edge? I’ve only had a few dry herb vapes in my time, and I’ve really been enjoying mine for the past year or so. But I’m not sure how it compares at a similar price point for a portable vape.

The fury edge is still a fine vaporizer - it’s a middle of the road portable. The oven size is decent, good enough heatup times, and good battery life for that price point and size. I was pleased with the original HealthyRips Fury.

The HealthyRips Rogue is a newer device from HealthyRips which is a linear upgrade from the Fury Edge - slightly larger oven, slightly larger/stronger heater, and slightly larger battery. But same mouthpiece and flavor profile.

There are upgrades you can take from the Fury Edge, but if you’re happy with what you got, I wouldn’t stress about the need to upgrade unless there’s something specifically you want (like better vapor flavor, larger oven, faster heatup, etc)

Not to mention dry herb vapes produce ABV at the end of your session, which can be reused in edibles. Dry herb is the best way to get your monies worth.

Heck yeah! I love using a sous vide to make budder with a bunch of ABV. I then use the budder to make delicious rice krispy treats which have an insane sedative kick.

I’d never heard of that, just looked it up and it looks pretty sick. I have a Pax 3 that’s fine but that looks a lot better 🤔

I just recently picked up an Arizer XQ2 and it’s amazing, but tried for day to day use. A friend of mine gifted me a KarmaVap (Dynavap M 2020), and it’s been my daily driver next to a revisit of my older and solid Xmax Starry v3. Whichever way I go I get done nice returns as ABV, so my next edible may be gummies.

Ever so often I use a water pipe but it’s iffy as I’m not a fan of “wasting” bud.

Favorite is a large bong. The density and smoothness of those hits is unmatched.

Unfortunately I live in an apartment so I most dab from an E-Rig (Dr. Dabber Switch)

Bong is the way to go. That or a bubbler. Water filtered is much less harsh for me. But sometimes I use my vaporizer, and often I use a distillate cartridge too. Joints and blunts are nice for social smoking

I still prefer dabs to anything else, but I recently switched from smoking flower to vaporizing using a Dynavap and once I got the hang of it (and got used to the feel of vapor vs smoke) it has quickly become my go to.

My consumption has effectively halved overnight, my lungs feel way better, I get way higher off less weed, and I can actually taste my flower instead of just smoke.

Definitely recommend a Dyna if you’re new to dry herb vapes - super simple mechanical function, no batteries or expensive parts to replace (it’s manually lighter/torch heated), and low investment up front (my buddy got his Dynavap “B” for like $40)

Been using carts lately for the convenience and discretion but back when I lived in SA it was all about bongs and joints.

A man of culture I see, it was my first dynavap and is still my absolute favourite

I can’t seem to get into larger water pipes; I don’t have the lung capacity for them, but a smaller bubbler is bliss for me

I’m really into vaping for convenience but a nice joint or bowl always hits the spot. I’ve never tried a water bong so can’t speak to that.

My most frequent is cartridges, just because they’re small and convenient and discreet to carry around.

But if I’m just at home, I like taking dabs. Or smoking a joint if I have time, for some reason joints fuck my lungs more than anything so it takes me a while to get through one.

Love a bong, but mine is still packed away from when we moved lol.
