That makes sense (like documenting an assault or a crime already in progress for evidence), but in this specific case it didn’t.
A video wouldn’t assist in a fire investigation because SOCO could tell just by being on the scene afterwards the origin, manner of death, scale, etc. Most importantly, as the neighbor across the house, he had better information that could help coordinate directions to the location faster. That’s the likely outcome when you have guys in FB (or tricycle drivers who are just passing through) doing the call for you instead of yourself.
