I’ll get the thread started off

Hey, I’m grant and I make websites sometimes

I make videos for sc07 and found the whole fediverse thing very interesting

I also tend to play a lot of minecraft and typically hangout on [email protected]

    edit: make community clickable

Hiya. Checking in from Florida… please don’t judge me by that. I work in the healthcare field and am a computer geek 🤓. I am yet another Reddit refugee and not looking back (deleted everything as well as my account there). So far enjoying Lemmy. I tried Mastodon and Kbin but the Lemmy platform feels the best to me. Looking forward to checking out new apps for Lemmy as they are developed and I am excited to see how Lemmy and the fediverse grow. Cheers!

Hi @grant thanks for hosting. I’m trying to find another instance other than lemmy.ml but when I browse all communities on toast I only get one page of results. On other instances I can see dozens of pages. Is this a temporary bug or does toast not federate with most instances?

Hi! In the communities tab it will only display the communities that this instance has already interacted with (aka someone on this instance has subscribed to it)

A method I’ve used to find new communities is by going to https://browse.feddit.de and copying the community id (eg !main@toast.ooo) into the search bar

it may take a second for it to pull up the community in the search results, but once it loads you’ll be able to browse posts made to that community and subscribe to it
