minus-squareArbiterXero@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up68·1 year agoI’m showing my age here, but that’s likely dvi, and not serial. 9pin is much smaller and 25pin is significantly larger. But despite my pedantic statement, the joke still stands. Well played.

minus-squareAjen@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up17·edit-21 year agoDVI-D uses TMDS, which is a serial protocol. So if you want to be really pedantic you could call it a serial port even though it’s not RS232. DVI-A also transmits metadata over a serial connection, but the video signal is parallel analog.
minus-squareEufalconimorph@discuss.tchncs.delinkfedilinkarrow-up9·1 year agoLooks a heck of a lot like the RS-485 serial cable I’ve got on my desk right now. Scale is hard to tell, not sure how big that bowl is.
minus-squareCaptain Aggravated@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up9·edit-21 year agoYeah it’s clearly a D-Sub connector, I’ll allow the meme, the joke’s funny.
minus-squareSubverb@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·1 year agoI thought the same when I saw it. That’s not a DB-9. Harumph!

Oh christ, DVI is old now.

Fair! Neat fact!
