My main motivation (other than having already created this and the MO subs over at lemmy.ml and was just copying them here) was that the guy who created it has proclaimed multiple times that he only moved to STL a few years ago, and I don’t see why that qualifies him to run our community. I was born and raised here.
He also spelled it out “Saint Louis” in the title, and appears to use his real picture as his profile pic. I mean seriously, who does either of those things? (Joking, but kind of not?)
Also I intend on being more active than posting a thread like “Promote your favorite restaurant” every few days.
Are you saying that they can’t be involved and be a leader in the community just because they weren’t “born and raised here”? I moved here just a few years ago. Should I just go ahead and unsubscribe since I’m an “outsider”? This is the kind of thinking and rhetoric that will hold the region back.
Curious: why create this when there’s /c/stl already? That one’s only 4 days old, should probably give it time to grow.
On the other hand, I guess we’ll see who promotes more. I’ll sub to both until there’s one I can think of as the “winner”
