Like a lot of couples when we first started we had our rules that we set up to make sure we were both comfortable in any given situation.
Over time we changed our rules to accommodate our experiences and our trust in each other.
Now it’s pretty much no non-standard bodily fluids during sex and the rest is negotiable. ☺
How have your rules evolved?
I’ve seen rules being a massive pain point in a few relationships I’ve been in. A lot of it around metas intentionally ignoring boundaries/cheating on our shared partner.
The longer I’ve done the polyamorous thing, the more comfortable I’ve become with just making sure that there is open communication between you and your partner(s) and working through emotions as they arise. However, that’s me and my current situation. Definitely what everyone wants and it will likely change in the future.
I agree. Open and honest communication can mitigate pretty much everything. Don’t allow external people to manipulate your relationship, we always talk before and after a new encounter.
