If I’m understanding it correctly, if Taylor didn’t award the penalty right away then VAR could check what happened and say it’s a penalty or not. But because it was awarded, they now have to see if it was a clear and obvious error. Since there was contact (however small it was), it wasn’t clear and obvious so they let it go.
