Israeli authorities have confirmed the death of Shani Louk, a 23-year-old Israeli-German woman who was taken by Hamas militants during an attack on the Supernova music festival on Oct. 7.

According to the BBC, Louk’s death was confirmed after investigators matched her DNA with a sample taken from a skull bone fragment. It’s not yet clear where or when the skull fragment was found. Louk’s body also hasn’t been located yet.

As such, an exact cause of death hasn’t been officially determined. Speaking with the German TV news channel RTL/ntv, Louk’s mother, Ricarda, said she believed her daughter may have been shot in the head during the attack. “At least she didn’t suffer,” Ricarda said.

On Twitter, the Israel Foreign Ministry said, “We are devastated to share that the death of 23 year old German-Israeli Shani Luk was confirmed. Shani who was kidnapped from a music festival and tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists, experienced unfathomable horrors. Our hearts are broken. May her memory be a blessing.”

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Israeli authorities have confirmed the death of Shani Louk, a 23-year-old Israeli-German woman who was taken by Hamas militants during an attack on the Supernova music festival on Oct. 7.

Speaking with the German TV news channel RTL/ntv, Louk’s mother, Ricarda, said she believed her daughter may have been shot in the head during the attack.

Shani who was kidnapped from a music festival and tortured and paraded around Gaza by Hamas terrorists, experienced unfathomable horrors.

Louk’s story garnered international attention following the attack on the Nova festival, after a video circulated that showed her body being paraded through the streets on the back of a flatbed truck.

Chen Mizrachi, an artist manager who helped with festival logics, told Rolling Stone in a recent report, “It’s crazy to do a massacre like that on innocent people.

Israel - Infamous for their Information community

Israel - Backed by the US

Hamas - Doesn’t have internet or clean water

Palestine - Doesn’t even have 3G internet when not at “war”

      Palestine - ~50% children

Conclusion: “man Hamas sure do be lying on the internet a lot”

I won’t either, and I think most decent people wouldn’t. But that doesn’t mean you have to side with Neten-yahoo’s Israel either.

My heart is heavy for the Palestinian civilians that are being absolutely massacred now. They aren’t allowed to leave the area, they did nothing wrong and Israel says, after the fact, “some bad guys might have been hiding in your building and needed to die. We know lots of innocent men, women and children were there too, but we don’t want our soldiers to be in harms way so instead of coming in on foot, we’re going to bomb the entire building and say “sorry, not sorry” for all the dead babies afterwards.” Repeat x 1000

Imagine a building with 3 terrorist holding 10 hostages as human shields and 50 more innocents locked in the building with them. The police then say, “yeah, we have them surrounded and they can’t get away. We don’t want to let the customers out because one of them might be a terrorist in disguise, and we don’t want to negotiate, and if we send some swat in they might get shot, so we’re going to bomb the whole building and be done with it. Sorry for the loses but we need to get those bad guys.” That’s what Israel is doing now, unsympathetically. They show just as little regard for civilians as Hamas.

Yeah, I know, and it’s bad. I wish they didn’t. I mean, also in a cold way, it’s bad for their image too, and counter productive. But I’m also not sure what the alternative could be, terrorism and religious fundamentalism is really a bitch to eradicate

Alternative is you show empathy for the civilians and you go do the difficult task of eradicating the terrorists with soldiers on the ground. More Israeli soldiers die, for sure, but a whole lot less civilians and children die and the world empathizes with your difficulty, maybe even the Palestinian people.

But unfortunately the current Israeli government hasn’t been treating the Palestinians like humans, and isn’t about to start.

Imagine being so braindead to believe anything the Israeli government says. They also just claimed Palestinians baked a baby in an oven, something THEY did during Nakba. They often take their own crimes and deflect them on someone else, thats what right wing fanatics do.

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence for that claim - or even anybody making that claim. Some people are saying Hamas did this earlier in October, I don’t know what the evidence for that is.

Who the fuck downplays a death with other deaths? Hamas fucking invaded that festival and killed people like barbars. They are terrorists, islamic extremists on top. Why can’t people just condemn this act? Who the fuck thinks this kind of attack is a legit reaction on the situation in Gaza?

At least put some actual numbers and post some facts. By your calculation all people in Gaza would be dead within less than 2 years, assumed everybody who lives there is a kid.

Lemmy and especially the world news community is crazy these days.

It’s just a bit weird to see this death paraded around the internet to condemn Hamas while Israel is killing thousands more.

Kind of makes it seem like “their lives worth less than this teenager’s.”

Where are the individual articles for each person Israel killed? You know what they say, one death is a tragedy, thousands are a statistic.

The source you provided states 3324 children have died and another 1000 missing since Oct 7. Not “3000 killed every day”, as you claimed.

Those numbers are still horrifying, but should not be used to belittle cruelty of terrorism. Whataboutism is futile.

That’s not what the other person said, and misusing quotes like that on a serious topic like this is egregiously disingenuous. If that was your takeaway, then you really ought to take a step back, take a deep breath, and recollect yourself before commenting again, because you’re really missing the mark here.

Look, if you’re upset that a pretty white girl is getting a disproportionate amount of media attention, then just say that. That’s a valid criticism of the news cycle. Maybe you could make a commentary about “Missing white woman syndrome” or something. But to make comparisons over which terrorist organization is a worse terrorist organization than the other is just asinine. The IDF and Hamas are both terrorist groups, it doesn’t matter which one has killed more children; they’re both killing children. Neither side is worth defending, they’re both inhumane groups killing each other’s and their own innocents.

What about the 23,700 kids who die from leukemia every year in the US?!? Are their lives worth less than the Palestinian murdered children?

Since you didn’t explicitly express grief over the children dying from Leukemia, I must assume you don’t care about them at all and think the 3,000 Palestinian kids lives are worth more than the 23,700 leukemia victims.

      /s

This is how you sound right now. I know this conflict has made me certainly doubt humanity’s intellectual faculties, but a lot of people can grieve for multiple people and things simultaneously without valuing one over the other.
