Patrick Stuebing and Susan Karolewski were separated because Patrick was adopted, then they met later when he was 24 and she was 16. They had four children together, two of which were disabled.
Patrick was jailed and separated from their children. The appeal to put the family back together was unsuccessful.
Based, tearing apart families like this is incredibly cruel. I love how the article points out that they have two disabled children which is not something you would normally consider appropriate to do in any other circumstance. I’m in favor of voluntary genetic testing and voluntary selective abortion for couples in their situation, but I know that is understandably a really touchy subject for disability rights advocates and people with disabilities.
