Zidane apparently has a certain aura and presence that people really feel when around him. Not even necessarily due to his skills as a player or his status in society. I think even if he had been a regular average joe he would be one of those people that exude leadership and confidence.

So there’s a good chance Messi is under that spell even if he sees himself as equal or superior.

That’s just called charisma. And yes, even on screen you can see he has loads of it. Could have ran for political office in another life if he hadn’t been so good at football.

He’s dead sexy and has sort of resting, “I am very displeased with this situation” face. Also, of course, a god of the game.

Plus, Messi is rather shy and easily becomes bashful in social situations, especially ones where he is the focus, and they are going to talk about how great he is. You’d think he’d get used to it, but he never seems to. When he went up to get his award for the FIFA Best Player in January, and the audience kept applauding he said, “you’re making me more nervous.”

Most revered Frenchman. Even more than any of their presidents.

If he ever ran for office he’ll have a damn good shot

I always thought the ones who have that kind of aura are Zizou, Seedorf, Xabi Alonso, Pirlo, and Henry.
