Why would they do that? They’re surely not stupid, they know how the US feels about them, they know how dangerous it is, and yet they do it anyways. Why? Because despite all of that, the situation they’re trying to leave is even worse, and worth the risk. Why don’t they just immigrate legally? Well, ignoring the fact that the requirements to even be considered are unobtainable for most people in the countries they’re fleeing from, even when you DO get on the wait list it can literally be over a decade before you’re actually approved for a green card. It’s no wonder people take the quick, risky, and illegal option when they need to get the fuck out of dodge NOW, rather than hoping the bureaucratic process happens before it’s too late.
