I downvoted because I understand that the research has a different definition for a mass shooting and OP is giving old man yells at cloud vibes while assuming that everyone around them are the idiots. And also because their argument is so old and so tired that it’s usually used to justify unregulated gun use in the US because it also downplays the issue saying it’s all disproportionately reported because it doesn’t conform to their very strict definition of what a mass shooting should be in academia. And I know I’m not the only one thinking this because there were other people making fun of this from before either of us got here.
Yes, OP has one valid point, but they also have other little points interspersed that I frankly don’t agree with.

A gang shooting, police shooting, robbery, self defense etc are not mass shootings. Period. Its dishonesty to include those statistics.
Or even simple bar fights. How long have we been having bar fights in this country? If you include those then this is absolutely nothing new.
