I largely agree with you. I think this is more “in-group” than “out-group” directed.

Moreover, if we are going to take a meme like this seriously, and not tongue-in-cheek, as I believe it is intended, it is still too difficult to onboard and offboard at scale and volume for laundering purposes compared to how easy that is to do with traditional fiat.

Efficient systems take the lath of least resistance. Physical cash, fiat, and the traditional financial markets are still far easier to accomplish this with, and so that is what the big time launderers will still primarily use for now until/unless the world goes fully digital or CBDC.

Edit: again, largely agree with you and chiming on with an unneccesarily verbose restatement when simply typing +1 or 👍 would have probably done 🤣

Agreed this is definitely an in-group thing. But this is exactly the kind of thing that ends up in a policy PowerPoint presentation saying that there is no legitimate use for digital cash.

I don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade, but I want digital money to happen, so we shouldn’t make it trivial for enemies to demonize us

80% of physical US dollar bills have traces of cocaine on them. 100% of monero has zero traces of anything.

We could workshop it. There’s a meme in there somewhere.
