Your finger moves up then taps the one you want. You could just as easily say that next should be up. Both are wrong. Next should be left, volume should be up / down.
How is that backwards? If you have music in a playlist in a media player app (or iPod or other MP3 player), the next song is underneath the one you’re currently playing.

You could just as easily say that next should be up.
Both are wrong.
Next should be left, volume should be up / down.
