Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!
Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!
Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.
So how’s it going?
Had a lovely stay-at-home date night with the wife last night. We tried some cocktails recommended by Stanley Tucci and watched the Hunger Games. I mean, I’m not really a cocktail person, and Hunger Games wasn’t my pick. But getting a bit of a buzz and having some cuddles on the couch – 10/10.
What kind of cocktails? My wife and I have recently started a board game and cocktail night for the two of us. I downloaded the Drinkable app [F-Droid] [Google Play] which is getting updated regularly with new cocktails. You select all the ingredients you have and it tells you which cocktails you can make. And my favourite feature is the “1 missing ingredient” list, that shows you cocktails that you’re only missing 1 ingredient for.
We have found many of the cocktails aren’t to our liking. That might just be because of which ingredients we have, but so many of them are along the lines of 50% lime juice, 50% spirit and we are just getting sick of drinking all that lime juice (we have a tree, and it’s laden at the moment, so it’s in plentiful supply - but a lot of work to juice all those limes).
So I’m keen to hear what kind of cocktails Stanley Tucci recommends :)
Oh man, my wife is going to love that app. I’ll pass it on.
We had negronis, old fashioneds, and some form of Christmas cocktail with a sprig of rosemary out of it?
Here’s a video of the Tooch making a negroni, if you’re interested.
Thanks! That negroni looks nice but it’s a bunch of ingredients we don’t have. I see now it’s listed in Drinkable but it wouldn’t have come up because of the missing ingredients.
There’s a bunch the app tells me are just missing gin, but we just generally aren’t that big of a gin fan. But I have occasionally had cocktails with gin at bars and I think I’m probably not as averse to it these days as I used to be.
