I haven’t gamed on pc for quite some time, but I remember every gaming company adding “launchers” for their games that you had to run to install and play their games. Even Nvidia did this with their fucking drivers. :)
Valve doesn’t do any of that bullshit. Maybe that’s why gamers like them?
Valve are such Chads.
I have no idea what woke even means anymore. It seems to mean “social awareness”. Black lives matters kind of a thing. Equal rights for trans people too of course. That doesn’t mean that everyone should support games being forced into having all genders, or races, or include trans people. Or all books or movies should be forced to have those things.
If you create something, it’s up to you how you want that to be. You are the artist.
This is not equal to hating trans people, and anyone with some iq points realizes this. We can’t turn every creation into a vehicle for trans rights.
I didn’t like the flat look of everything but that will probably change going forward.
The thing is, i think social media today has created a lot of censorship out of necessity. There are people out there who just aren’t mature or intelligent enough to have a conversation without insulting or pushing people down.
And because of they, we all suffer. We get over-moderated, we get called trolls etc.
I think I would like a platform where people actually have to act like adults. But that’s hard. Hacker news have kind of made it, but they are also well known for not being open minded at all.
I mean, look at No Man’s Sky. It’s not Ai but some algorithm creating the world and it looks really generic and the same everywhere.
I hope using AI can make worlds like that feel actually different.
Depends on what you get moderated for. I once posted a question about trans people and I got banned from some Lemmy.ml community because they thought I was trolling them. I wasn’t.
It’s just sometimes hard for moderators to know what kind of person they are dealing with. But someone’s posting history is usually enough to see if they are trolling or not.
Also what is trolling. It’s supposed to mean that you intentionally upset people for fun. How can anyone know if it’s intentionally or not. To some people, asking a question is trolling because they don’t see why anyone would ask that if they didn’t try to upset people.
So… It’s interesting.
I think gaming in general have it hard now. There are millions of games and only a handful are best sellers.
I feel the same about movies. So many, but just a few are worth watching because they are original.
HR is there to protect the company.
They will have a laugh with you, sure. Why not? And they will come up with silly games for employees, because it increases employee retention and makes employees likely to think HR is just about boosting fun.
But trusting them? God no.
It’s a language model… Not a regexp. :)
I agree it’s overhyped and I think we will have these models in everything from phones to cars, giving us voice commands and summary functions.
It is not going to become self aware anytime soon. :)
For better or worse, the moderation policies of Lemmy.world is seen as “the fediverse”.
Almost everyone decided to use that instance, so… It’s the default choice still.
I think because we feel that there is no real purpose to being alive, we need entertainment and distractions.
I often wish we had a star trek society where people would work on things that benefitted society in some way, instead of for money. It would have much more meaning because your talents would benefit other people, not corporations.
Someone who likes to draw would just draw and become appriciated for having great art, much like open source works today. Or if you enjoy making beautiful furniture, or robots.
What is destroying us is that we all work for being rewarded by money, not for appriciation from our peers. For me personally, the appriciation i get for working on open source projects is enough to keep me going and being happy with the work.
Some people say that most people would do nothing if they didn’t have to work. I think they would want to do something. Because almost everyone would want to feel they have a purpose besides just existing. That is why we feel empty now at most jobs.
Sure you have tried a cold beer when it’s hot? That bitter cold taste is amazing when it’s hot and cools me down for sure. I wouldn’t have any sugary drinks when it’s hot though, just makes me thirsty.
It is unhealthy but it makes you relax and have fun if not drinking too much. Also it makes people horny which is a plus sometimes.
I also don’t drink more than a few beers every few months, but if I lived in a warm country, I probably would. It’s very tasty when it’s hot.
I was looking for this comment. Lol. :)
The incredible happiness of exchanging the time I was given on earth for money so I can pay my bills. Highly recommended, 10/10.
It’s part of an effort to normalize seeing it. I think it’s probably good, but it’s just a bit unrealistic sometimes and feels very forced. ':)
