My profile has my matrix name. I figured people have known that was a feature for lemmy profiles, but I guess that was my mistake.

Every section had missing downloads. But with some web inspection, I found some interesting obfuscation using what I think is JavaScript on the web pages that “used” to hold the download links, for the files that were requested to be removed. If we can figure out how to reverse the code to reveal the link again we could grab (assuming they are still on the server) the files manually.
If you want to chat about this I’m on matrix
I can confirm that the script still works, but sadly the site owner of Vim has removed the file from the server. The script sees a file link but will download nothing. When testing the script with just NES, it will see a game, but will throw an error of “remote files name has no length”, so going forward you could test via a vpn and see if they adjusted their files to be available via a country that doesn’t care, or they just haven’t gotten around to cleaning up their file directory list post removal.
P.S. the script showed that 23 field failed to download so one can assume those files were the one Nintendo decided to have them remove.
There is a bit of advise for actors/actresses from a director (forgot their name) where they said “if the only thing about you is that you are on time/early, and you are pleasant to work with, you will always find a job in acting. If you don’t care and lack punctuality, and are hard to work with or around (if necessary) then you will find fewer and fewer opportunities as time goes on.”
It doesn’t help that there is an interview from George at Cannes where he was presented the Palm d’Or and he mentioned and compared his tinkering with Michelangelo’s Sistine chapel. The biggest issue with the comparison other than the ego boost is that when Michelangelo was done with a work he left it alone, he didn’t go back 5-10 later and asked to “fix a few issues he had with it” he would go wholesale a redo it from scratch (sculpture, not painting) to fix the issues he saw from before. So George can go eff off with his comparison and be happy that he is rich. And becoming extra unpopular every time he opens his big mouth.
If you are getting a copy of the book and they say it’s from the hardback first edition or at least the hardback then you have a decent chance to find online resources that will tell you how many pages that particular edition had. If it’s a straight up epub from another source and not scans, then you could use some software to do a word comparison and see what the changes are/were between copies. Thankfully if it’s the book or series I think it is there were no abridged (shortening the book by removing parts that don’t contribute to the story) copies made that I’m aware of.
When I was young (think middle school) I would read 3-4 books at a time. Not because I like the challenge but because I got bored or the book had larger or more complex words that I was not familiar with. So I would take a break from it and try another.
Nowadays I treat audiobooks the same as I did when I was young. I also read book I really want to read one at a time these days. I have liked savoring the story a bit more or reflecting on what I read a bit more than just trying to read the book, this has allowed me to get through books that when I was younger I would avoided for the slow pace.
Now if I truly detest a book for any number of reasons I will drop it. It doesn’t mean I won’t go back to finish it, but the best example is Wheel of time by Robert Jordan. I got to book 7 and I finally had, had enough. I just could not deal with the amount of groups he would switch between to tell his stories. The books and story aren’t bad, I just go tired of dealing with it.
Edits: for grammar and clarity.
I don’t have any wisdom tree NES cartridges, but I do have a few of the unlicensed carts. The ones I have, have a switch to adjust the amount of power used by the cart to fool the lockout chip.
I’m sorta, kinda, mostly illiterate, when it comes to what you are doing with adobe. Are you just installing like normal and then copy/paste the Adobe folder from the programs folder into a wine directory?
If you have a GBC I would recommend super Mario bros deluxe. gives you SMB and the Japanese SMB 2 along with a bunch of of unlockable QoL fun feature like time attack, save files, and a red coin challenge.
According to the cube rule (https://cuberule.com/) the hotdog is technically a sandwich and not a taco due to the bun only really being two parts of a whole.
You can’t just say that, and not tell us. I want to celebrate with a cocktail in their honor.
Edit: Wait is it just fireball whiskey?
I can understand and get behind this sentiment. At an old job we had iMacs and I would use Apple’s numbers program to make pixel art in the tables by coloring each cell.
Gundam has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember (Read: OG “mobile Suit Gundam”). The last few have really resonated with me (iron blood, witch from mercury), I can see what Tomino is saying that the spirit of the franchise and the spirit of anime and animation should not be sacrificed for profit or for expediency, a little give and take is ok, but to completely disregard the rich history in chase of a “cult classic” or “blowout success” is a fool’s errand.
I’m not going to vote on this, but I will say this feels more like an attack (based solely on language used) than an unpopular opinion to drum up discussion and conversation. While you are valid in having your option heard I’m not sure you’ll get a lot of people on your side based on this.
That aside, I can understand having characters that are based on a caricature of a profession or personality, not being something you like, but that is part of how comedy and story telling works, you need to get people invested by trying to tell a story. Are the characters deep wells of emotional storytelling and emotion, some are, but not all. I won’t change your mind, but I feel like taking a moment to understand what the Henson company is trying to vs the perceived hate over its basic nature might help a bit in giving you a bit more of a nuanced opinion.

One of the rare times I’ve seen a good quality image of a monowheel. Everything else is either low resolution or the subject was too far away.
I love coffee, but as I’ve gotten older acid reflux has been a more common issue that I must remedy. I currently drink a loose-leaf oolong green tea, called “milk oolong” it’s gentle on my stomach and provides me with some caffeine, and I make enough to last me most of the day in a double insulated mug. During the spring and summer I cold-steep 10 bags of Lipton’s black tea in a large pitcher over night and use that for the next 2-3 days.
It’s the same issue for posts as well, at least for me. I have to click on the image in a post to see the animated version. But yes it’s much better now than before.
I waited to see if anyone mentioned it, but, POD. A old 1997 racing game from Microsoft built by Ubisoft. You can get the gold edition on GoG for rather cheap but I would absolutely love to see a remaster or remake. Unfortunately I would rather it not be made by Ubisoft as I don’t want to be forced into a separate account login setup from Ubisoft.
