  • I guess my pessimistic lens is a little strong and I generally don’t trust large companies to act in good faith. So maybe I’m over scrutinizing here and being a bit of a curmudgeon.

I think your perspective is fair, and it’s likely this is akin to a high school faculty dealing with some random word or idea becoming a meme of sorts and causing problems. So they have to write some new rule that sounds ridiculous or weird.

It sucks there’s so much racism and bigotry driving forces in the world that it’s hard to not be dubious of everything. You always kinda wonder about the actual motivation behind things like this.

  • Calling zionism what it is shouldn’t be discouraged with dog whistles masquerading as conduct policies.

At the same time I’d like to remind folks that not all Jewish people subscribe to Zionism.

There are a couple Jewish lead organizations that fight for the freedom of Palestine and have been very critical of Israel for many years.

Jewish Voices for Peace is one group. I wonder how they’d feel about Twitches new policy. I’m genuinely curious what their opinion would be.

Edit - corrected Jewish Voices for Peace

  • Perimenopause can happen in women a lot younger than most people think. I’m in my 30s and dealing with perimenopause symptoms such as hot flashes and irregular periods.

I’m supposed to be tracking my periods to help my Dr decide if that’s what’s going on, but because if this anti abortion garbage I have to do it manually on paper which I’m terrible about remembering to do(brain fog is another symptom)

So yeah, irregular periods are common for many reasons(endometriosis for example), but the most common one every ovulating woman eventually faces is perimenopause and menopause.

  • I’m sorry you also have a mom like that. But, props to us for surviving being raised by incompetent people!

And I really agree on Trump winning the stupid vote. This wasn’t so much an election of genders as it was an election of anti-intellectualism vs the educated. Only uneducated, willfully stupid people vote for a literal rapist.

My mom was one of those women who voted for Trump. And you know what? She’s a moron. She literally doesn’t pay any attention to politics and just votes for whoever my dad votes for. My dad votes for whoever is running republican. Ugh.

The thing is, my mom had a septic miscarriage between me and older sibling. She had a dnc to remove to the rotting fetus because she was going to die. One of the last conversations we had I tried to explain to her that she’d be dead today if the laws in red states were in place back then. She ignored me. Literally just stopped talking and ended the conversation.

My mom is so stupid she’s a fucking hazard.

I’m estranged from my family, have been for years. But I’d like to guess a good chunk of the women who voted for trump are like my mom. Braindead. The other chunk actively like trump and are openly nazis. The brain dead ones are too stupid to notice they’re wearing nazi uniforms.

But I guess that’s an accurate description of people who voted for trump in general. Stupidity doesn’t care what gender you are, it still makes you dumb as fuck.

  • Thanks! As far as I know I made it up, but it wouldn’t surprise if the concept has appeared elsewhere.

The height preference thing always kinda reminded me of orcs or amazons and I figured those archetypal societies would do something like that… plus I saw an opportunity to make a joke. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Also I really enjoyed the picture you painted with it! That was a fun read. I hope you find that badass lady to wear your ribcage in battle one day!

  • I’m married to a man the same height as me. Absolutely zero regrets. He’s kind and funny, and my favorite person.

The only thing I’m slightly jealous of is that I might not be able to wear my husband’s ribcage as armor should I outlive him the way that women with taller husband’s can. But that’s life! I love my husband more than I desire widow armor.

I think both kinda sound equally weird because we for a lot of words like astronaut, the astronaut is already assumed to be male unless otherwise indicated. So male astronauts or man astronauts both sound clunky and kinda weird, and the weirdness translates over when you start indicating the astronaut is a woman by saying “woman astronaut” or “female astronaut.”

The English language, and historical baggage just kinda fucked us on this one. We used to add ‘ess’ to the ends of words to indicate gender, but that was dropped outside of the use of waitress or actress for the most part. Not sure why that stopped, but I’m sure it’s interesting and I’m going to go look it up later.

  • My old early 2000s Ford focus that had manual windows and locks died a few years ago. I miss that car, but towards the end every door handle broke and only the back passenger door opened from the outside… which means I always I had to leave a window down(no key hole on that door) or climb through the trunk.

Unfortunately Ford decided to make car doors using a tiny piece of plastic that holds the wire that moves when you pull the handle. When that breaks the handle goes limp and does nothing. But you can’t just replace that piece of plastic… nope. You have to buy a whole new internal mechanism.

Like i said that car died finally, but I’m still salty about the doors. Those broke one at a time about 5-10 years before the engine went. Anyway, sorry about the rant. I loved my not electric windows and doors, but never expected that issue with it down the road.
