I don’t even game or use any Windowed only programs. I watch shows, use web apps for work, and that’s about it. If I can run Firefox and Stremio that’s about 95% of my needs met, ha!

I dug out my old MacBook to see if I can test out some distros on it. If I find one I like and use for a bit I’d be all in on trashing Windows

This. I had to do my attempted Linux install while my kid was napping in like my 30 mins of free time I get a day if I’m lucky

Once you fixed that issue did Linux work well dual booting? I’m sure I can get past it but I’m mostly worried that this foreshadows ongoing problems

I had a bad feeling that dual booting wouldn’t be the seamless thing I hoped for. I have an old Mac laptop I might try installing on to see how I like it and decide if I’m just gonna wipe Windows entirely.

It’s incredible how shit Windows is and everyone just accepts it. It shows me ads on my lock screen FFS (and I know how to disable that cuz I’ve done it three times now and they keep coming back like a horror movie monster you didn’t behead).

I know someone who is trying to get their young kid evaluated and potentially diagnosed and now they’re having second thoughts. I don’t know how they’re putting this registry together but I wouldn’t want my kid on it

We were told it was not optional coming home from an international flight last month. However, our toddler was with us and nervous and they said we could opt out for him. I said great, thanks. Picked him up while we were talking and I wasn’t really thinking about where I was holding him. The agent looked over, smiled and said hi to get their attention, and I saw him take the image, seconds after we verbally opted out. Sigh.

Oh! I just realized we have a Yolink hub connected to Ethernet, and it’s online. So yes, Ethernet is working and WiFi came back online after a router reset. Now I just need to figure out how to make sure this doesn’t happen again…

I’m an exvangelical atheist and I do find myself wishing this whole administration would go rot in hell, so I guess you could say in some small way they’ve brought religion back to my life.

No food individually “causes” obesity and health issues. Overuse of some foods can. If we want people to be healthier, maybe we should offer free accessible cooking classes, or (gasp) not put people in the position where they have to work so much to pay the bills they don’t have time to prepare healthy food.

All this does is punish people who are already in shit circumstances. Maybe they want a treat for their kid, maybe they want to have a fun movie night, maybe it’s none of your business?

I used to have a few of them. Everyone who saw them thought they were diseased, but they were just my cute mini vultures to me 🤣

So people are supposed to get excited about voluntarily scanning their eyeballs and giving the data to a private company to prove that they’re a human, to theoretically protect themselves from AI imposters generated by… The same dude’s other company. And people are actually doing it because crypto bribes.
