If you open the versions drop down in F-Droid it has a ‘suggested’ tag next to the 2.0.12.1 version, so they’re aware of the issue, I’m not sure if that means if you just click install that’s what you get as I pinned it there when this all started and don’t want to uninstall reinstall just for this post, but I’m guessing it’ll just install the non suss version.

This. Reasonable odds that it’s the drive controller that got fried, HDDs are fairly resistant, unfortunately the borked drive controller may have corrupted the GPT table, (unlikely the data unless the drive really is fried).
In some cases there’s a backup GPT table at the end of the drive, but by now you’re in the weeds and need to assess how much that data is worth to you, because you need to find an expert.
If it’s not worth much there’s a good chance you can just recreate a GPT table and reformat and scan for errors, at least you’ll get a drive back.
They’re not law as long as you can afford the lawyers and legal costs to fight them. Which is, of course, the problem and the system working as designed.

They use the same silicon wafers and OpenAI just made a deal to secure 40% of the global supply of wafers from both SK Hynix and Samsung (2 of the three large providers) ostensibly for project Stargate server farms. It gets so much worse, they made both deals on the same day without advising the other company, and have not provisioned any way to actually use (make chips from) the wafers. It looks more like they’re just trying to keep them out of the hands of competitors. See here for the gory details.
From there the laws of supply and demand and panic buying by everyone else took over, micron (the third big one) dropped out of the consumer market because they’re gonna make bank in the server market as the only unencumbered company. Consumer general purpose computer customers are royally boned. This will flow through into the SSD market as well.
TLDR: Fuck AI in general and Fuck ‘OpenAI’ and Sam Altman in particular. If you pray, pray that this deal gets a legal injunction in South Korea, coz you know the US will just applaud this shitfuckery.

In my understanding, still no, especially not the more advanced filters stuff. PS6 (or whatever the last one you could actually buy was) on the other hand is 95+% functional if you can go back. Not an expert, GIMP is fine for my needs, there’s even a spin with PS-like menu layout if that’s your jam, but happy to be told I’m wrong about new PS.
Adobe shit and AutoCAD stuff are the the last major sticking points these days, Office is in the cloud now. Shame these last two won’t let their cash cows be rented in the cloud (instead of subscribed, you know, a long term rental agreement using your own computer) to my knowledge. There’s always VMs.
