It’s insanity. Rechargeable batteries were the default. You could switch out for a better battery. The whole vape scene looked to be a big win for decreasing smoking and reducing costs.
Then big tobacco and the government got involved.
It’s literally buying rechargeable batteries and throwing them away after the first use. (Yes, I have also yelled at someone when they did that with some AA Eneloops 🙄).
As an aside, I don’t smoke or vape, but had an interest in batteries, and some of the info that would come from some of the vape sites was fantastic.
It staggers me that in reality so much of the operation of various countries democracies have relied upon good people acting in good faith.
Was Scomo making himself anything less than a king by secretly appointing himself as the minister in charge for every key portfolio? Roll out martial law, and congratulations, you have a new dictator. Surely, he could have done it with the panic around covid.
I always thought that looking back through history, with the lessons from ancient Egypt, Greece, the Roman Empire and even the rise of Stalin, Hitler etc we would be aware of what to look for and wouldn’t fall for the same thing over and over.
But it still seems to be so incredibly easy to achieve. It doesn’t seem to matter how ‘democratic’ you are, or how democratic you think your society is.
I am disappoint…
FYI, Aldi had a Special Buy on the Lite Racer 3.0 for $50 a couple of weeks ago.
You can use the Special Buys Stock Availability to see if there are any available near you. The most popular sizes/colours are probably gone, though.
Ooh, Happy New Financial Year!
Swannies need to sort out their slow starts.
Can’t keep giving teams 20 point starts.
Excitedly get new machine. Install Debian.
Not so excitedly search error messages.
Dejectedly find need kernel/drivers that’s 18 months later than the Debian versions
boot sysrescuecd to find next distro to write to USB drive …
kick self for buying shiny, latest hardware without checking for linux support. Again…😡
The simple way is to dual boot or even simpler, set up a Linux distro in a Windows VM.
Let’s you play/see if the distro works for you.
TBH, I’ve got 1 machine where Windows is more problematic than the Ubuntu that is setup to dual boot… Can’t bring myself to do a fresh install of Windows lol…

She’s the dopest little shorty in all Pawnee… Indiana
But Joe Biden was Leslie’s hero. She’d never run against him.
I love ice cream, and a 1l or 2l tub is lucky to make it past 2 days.
But I struggled with my last tub. It’s the first time I can remember that I went ‘Nah, I don’t want any. It’ll be too cold and just unpleasant’. I could only bring myself to eat it at lunchtime.
And now I’ve actually stood in front of the fridge at the supermarket and gone ‘Brrrr, no I’m not buying that. It’ll be cold’.
Somebody help me. I’m now literally softer than ice cream sitting in the sun on a summer’s day 😢
Also, IIRC one of the key points for introducing the sin bin was to penalize foul play and make it easier for refs to apply it because everyone was too scared to send someone off, and everyone whinged that having 12 players for all or most of the match was too harsh.
I’m for sendoffs and sin bins. If those aren’t in place you are going to have professional hit men out there to take out the opponents best players. And their team will get the 2 points, or they win the GF or SoO then they get suspended.
Consistency is what’s needed. And you see the lack of it in plenty of decisions, sometimes even within the same game.
Overall, I like the review system and challenge system. There are plenty of sports where it’s an absolute shitshow. EPL and NBA come to mind. The issue is only around consistency of decisions.
Yeah, when so many of the elected have investment properties, there’s no incentive to change the way things are 😔
It really feels like a ‘Do something, anything!’ situation.
To use a cricket analogy, take any easy singles now, and you can hit the boundaries when(if?) they come.
A good engineer prepares for every use case.
What normally happens is that the engineer will raise the corner cases and then be told that will never happen and they must not prepare for those use cases. Also, they can now deliver a week earlier.
I’m dubious this will have any effect, but at least it’s trying something. I’m sure other cities & states will be watching…
With the nation wide housing issues, it can’t be solved with one silver bullet, it needs many policies to work together. Every little thing helps.
I can’t help feeling kinda sorry for most reality tv contestants now.
The latest one that really got to me was Alone. I watched a couple of different countries versions. It basically is leaving people in the middle of nowhere until they have a mental breakdown. I bailed out part way through a season. I just couldn’t watch any more, it was so depressing.
To want to be on any of these reality shows, I just keep feeling bad for them.
Yeah, nah …
Nice!
And go Swannies ! Hope it’s a good game, despite the weather!
ALDI is pretty terrible if you don’t have a really basic White Australian diet.
I get what you’re saying. They’ve got the basic Aussie Italian, Mexican, Asian covered. You’ll never beat shopping at the specialty supermarket/shop for whatever cuisine you’re cooking.
But as a somewhat counterpoint to this, I quite enjoy their weekly(?) deals where they have mostly pantry foods and specialities from a particular country. Sure, they’re not available all the time, but there’s been plenty of times I’ve gone ‘OMG, it’s xyz from country 123!’ and you’d be lucky to find it anywhere in Australia. My eyes must’ve bugged out of my head when I saw they had white asparagus 🤣
The enshITAfication continues even after Ita Buttrose left.
It will not be completed until it becomes a cross between the Australian Women’s Weekly and Cleo, including centerfolds of random b-list celebrities.
