  • Social media can be so cringe. I had been following an indigenous rights group and over time I’ve come to realize its kind of a lib page even though they do some radical positions like land back. And I didn’t mind the fact that it is a lib page, but they posted some cringe shit about black people being colonizers and it like… ehhhh. If we’re going to label black people like that because there are those who enthusiastically support the US and white supremacy then you’re going down a slippery slope by labeling the entire group that way. Especially because there are groups of indigenous people who believe in assimilating with, or at least are ok with, colonizer culture. IDK, maybe I’m thinking about it too much, but I unfollowed the page. I have other indigenous rights pages that are much more intersectional.

  • Pretty much in a similar situation for the past 3+years. Took forever to add a 4th person because we were seeing a much higher volume of work.

That person only lasted about 3 months before they quit. Never got replaced. With the experience we had gained we were able to handle the volume of work, but only because we were just that good at the job and we picked up extra shift.

One of the people from our 3 person crew left and we struggled to replace them because the base pay is shit. Finally replaced them after some turnover over a year. The new person isn’t quite as reliable. Had the other person get promoted and their replacement has been similarly unreliable.

Now I’m doing my best balancing helping them with the work they do plus all the responsibilities I have as a lead all while the higher up occasionally mention adding another person, which we already had. I’m so fucking tired, but I know looking g for another job is going to be hell and somehow they’re still ok with how things are even though we’ve had a drop in the quality of our work.
