I’m impressed with the amount of people who can actually remember what they were like as a 10 year old. I’ve got some pictures n’ shit of myself from back then, but honestly that might as well be a completely different person, and I can’t tell you jack about what’s going through their head.
What happens next?
HUGE sigh of relief from the entire planet.
…really not even new. Just the same shitty normal as always.
I was going to post some snark about not putting it past humanity to find a way to set the ocean on fire too, but… wait that sounds familiar… oh yeah, we’ve fucking done it already!
Biden could always have him [official business]ed.
…that’s not an egg.
Igorrr
Nope, they’ve flown under my radar until now. Didn’t scratch the itch I was shooting for, but that did awaken a completely new one - I fucking loved the one you linked!! Will definitely be going down that rabbit hole. I haven’t heard much Arabic influence in metal… only one that comes to mind is the intro of Blind Guardian’s Wheel of Time (which is one of my all time favorites!). If you’ve got more along those lines, please share! In the mean time I’ll be doing a deep dive on Igorrr!
Bullet for My Valentine
Familiar with them. Never really cared for BfMV… always struck me as the musical equivalent of a pouty teenager after being told to clean their room, lol. They’ve got enough redeeming content in most songs that I wouldn’t say I dislike them either, but it all ads up to kinda just break even at good enough to not bother skipping it when they pop up in a list, but not good enough to ever actually seek them out.
…typing kinda slow cuz my brain is fried, so in the time it took to make this comment I’m on my 4th Igorrr song and JESUS FUCKING CHRIST those guys are all over the damn place lol. 10/10

Considering the direction global politics is taking, setting the planet on fire would be an act of mercy at this point.
Just because we always have doesn’t mean we always will.
We’re managing our planet like a chronic drunk driver who’s somehow never had a collision. “It’s fine, I do this all the time!”
All it takes is on ‘not fine’ and the story’s over.
I just hope whatever emerges from the ashes evolves to be a species that’s less of a dickhead than humans. …assuming anything emerges from the ashes; that isn’t a guarantee either.
So I fucking hate that this is where my brain went, but my kneejerk reaction to this was: “If I do this, could it be used as evidence to charge my wife with the death of a nonexistent fetus?”
I live in the cousin-fuckingly-deep south where women are incubators and a long list of stereotypes. I could definitely see it argued in court - successfully - that an app like that was only used on my phone to try to conceal my wife’s data, and the data points to one of the ways we’ve criminalized pregnancy.
…and that’s thinking about what could happen here and now. Once Trump has had his way with our country, we’d probably just get deported to one of daddy Putin’s gulags or some shit.
I really fucking hate it here.
Speaking only for myself, but I’d wager this is pretty common: registered independent, but my voting pattern is consistently solid blue. Historically I mostly just don’t want to give the poll worker any reason treat me less-than-ethically due to not aligning with their party of choice. Now-a-days, I don’t want a D next to my name when the Nazis we just elected start making their lists of undesirables.
if you think lack of cooking is going to affect my dating life…
I advise anyone who enjoys eating tasty food learn how to cook. Even if you live the rest of your life single, being able to knock out a tasty meal when desired is a gamechanger to your quality of life. And if you do find a romantic partner, seeing them enjoy food you’ve prepared them is a special kind of warm-and-fuzzy. 10/10

…there’s some nominative determinism for ya.
They did a fairly extensive study in the 1940s on how to deal with Nazis.
Findings were that punching, while not necessarily a bad thing to do to them, was quite a bit less effective than other forms of engagement due to the Nazi having a tendency to get back up after a punch alone.
Never let the law stop you from doing what’s right.
That was clear pretty early on. The options are vigilante justice or no justice; the law is a joke.
I was an active duty surgical tech in the US military; promoted fairly quickly and ranked up to Staff Sergeant at about 3 years. Shortly after taking that rank, we had a perfect storm of deployments, a retirement, a medical separation, etc that left me as the highest ranking enlisted in the surgery unit, which made me (a still-kinda-newby-surgical-tech) taking the responsibilities of basically a charge nurse. Chief among these was attending morning morning briefs with the top dogs of the hospital (high ranking officers) and giving report. Fortunately I knew where to access the OR’s metrics, so my report was always just a summary of our case load, average times, etc.
This lasted only about a week until we got a new Master Sergeant and Tech Sergeant. Apparently I got some pretty high praise from those top dogs for stepping up (not like I had a choice) and doing a decent job – but that was PURE luck lol. I only did well because things went relatively smoothly on their own. If there was an emergency or something I would have had no fucking clue what to do; and all the junior enlisted seemed to just know that I wouldn’t have been able to do shit for them during that time, so everyone kept the smaller fires to themselves during that time.
It was a weird time.
We’re getting to the point where laws don’t mean shit. You have the right to defend yourself, whether or not it’s a legal right.
Thought provoking question of the day: Leading up to the holocost, would the average German citizen have been justified in taking up arms against their own government in order to prevent it? If yes, what line was crossed that gave them the moral obligation to do so? And finally, what’s the modern equivalent of that line?
