Hell, Lutris can even set up the original 1989 Sim City for you. Seeing that game on modern display sizes and resolutions is quite something
So my fear of sharks has gotten better, and I don’t quite understand why.
Curious 🏳️⚧️
But anyhow, you’ve probably found me because you’ve seen one of my totally inconspicuous comments
I’m open to chat about these and other related things over on Matrix

moisturize me
Fair point, you have to check what makes the most sense for you. Good example would be stuff like 3D rendering, where modern hardware would be several times as fast as my current PC, while using the same amount of power, or even less
This is where the Heroic Games Launcher comes in, it only downloads the game itself, no Epic Games Launcher to be seen
I do like the mechanic though. Really forces you to adapt your playstyle. Some enemies are slow enough for it to not matter, and then with others it might actually be better to take some armor off, so you can dodge their attacks better.
Enotria: The Last Song, it’s a soulslike set in colourful Italy, basically. Has some interesting mechanics for how builds and loadouts work.
Though I wasn’t able to play through the entire demo because I’m starved for video memory
Yeah, I don’t remember there being any pointers about equip load. On one hand it makes perfect sense, put heavy armor on and you’re slower. But on the other hand, it’s a video game, so many players wouldn’t expect it and then spend hours trying to figure out why their controller rumbles when they roll
The first Dark Souls is pretty clunky compared to modern games though, to be fair
Yeah. And I bet most, if not all of them would’ve been a lot happier with that feature. It makes things so much easier, so much more flexible.
It’s 2024 and GIMP will only now be getting the ability to do non-destructive editing through adjustment layers. It has been fine for many simple tasks, but for anything that’s more complex than a Lemmy shitpost, it’s been rough for that reason alone
It’s definitely more convoluted, but uBlock Origin can also selectively block pretty much anything, really. That being said, whatever tool you use, blocking any third party stuff per default is always a good start, to see how well any given site can work without it. Tells you a lot already
I think it’s fair to say that schoolwork just outpaces attention span and focus at some point. Many people do well in their first years, and the struggles often only manifest themselves when more and more subjects get added, each with higher workloads than before.
Makes a lot of sense, but some people just cling to the but you did so well in elementary school thing
I was wondering where that issue came from
I had one big problem with VLC, in that it could not figure out which of my monitors I wanted the video to run fullscreen on. That was infuriating to the point I switched to MPV, and I’m very happy with it
As much as I hate him, a large majority of the games that are given away on that platform are fully DRM-free, and that’s pretty damn cool
One of those times where it sounded perfectly correct in my head, whoops
Others have said all the important things, but I wanted to add that there are things that Android always tunnels through a VPN, like internet connectivity checks.
So even with Always-ON and Block Connections, this will still ignore a VPN
Like the other reply said, Lineage doesn’t do a whole lot in terms of degoogling. I quite enjoy DivestOS, it’s a project that takes Lineage as a base and strips out as much Google and proprietary code as possible.
In fact, it’s so Google-free that neither sandboxed Play Services nor MicroG are officially supported, though the latter can still be installed and used just fine, though with a few drawbacks.
Same as Lineage, it runs on more devices, but certain features like bootloader relocking depend on the phone.
