Sounds like you need some friends, friend. Those aren’t them.
I like recipes and games, both digital and analog. I’m an increasingly old fart with kids who knows a little bit about a lot of things.
Sounds like you need some friends, friend. Those aren’t them.
It’s not even really that. Paris Hilton? As replaceable as the next individual human. Almost totally without any production or material value, yet loaded with worth. There are dozens of people like her. Or on a smaller scale, many mid-upper level managers are completely interchangeable and produce little to nothing, but are valued far more than someone working in a packing plant.
Worth and value have no correlation in our society. People who have money have it because they have money, not because they work harder or do more important things. Some people do have money and also work hard or do important things, sure, but it isn’t correlated.
Great idea! If members of the working class fight amongst each other, it’s a great way to get the people reaping the profits to listen.
You’re directly serving the studios by acting like this. You could have said something like “This is awful, and the actors even do better than crew members, it goes all the way down.” Instead you decided you should attack the other people who can’t make rent.
Spent so much cognitive effort making sure my kids didn’t feel hamstrung by gender roles. Wound up with two kids who identify at least partly as non-binary, and have chosen their roles as much on their own as I think they can reasonably do.
Of course both of them, hilariously, wound up choosing incredibly typical gender-aligned stuff. The “amab” NB kid loves machines, Lego, spaceships, engineering, explosions, and anything STEM. The “afab” NB kid loves puppies, pink stuff, flowers, dresses, helping with household chores, cooking, and scorpions. Typical girl stuff.
Not ascribing any deeper meanings. I just think it’s cute and funny.
The outer wilds is mostly pretty chill and relaxing and one of the best games I’ve ever played. Don’t look up spoilers if you pick it. It’s a game about exploring and curiosity
A 3d srardew valley style game where you play as a Hobbit would be just… Sooooo good. Nice
Yeah. I think the issue in NMS is that they keep adding new systems (good) that do the same things as other systems (hmm) and can’t interface with those systems (bad). Like, why is town building not at all like base building? Why does base building have its own rudimentary town building part, but it kinda just stops? Why do they have beautifully realized frigates in space, and crashed frigates ont he ground, but no relationship between the two?
I really want to love it, it contains essentially everything I like in a game, but it just constantly falls short on depth each time. I’m due to go back and sink another few hours into it but I also feel pretty confident that I’ll finish off again feeling the ache of missed opportunity.
All that, and also I just think the writing in the game is phenomenally bland. It’s not bad at all, it just never captures my interest in the slightest. I’d love to get my hands on the basic framework of the story and totally rewrite it.
can’t see through the paywall but it should be noted that Ranga Dias isn’t the person responsible for the LK-99 superconductor claims that are making the news rounds. He made some claims in March and afaik they’re already pretty widely debunked… although to be honest I only just learned about the guy through the lk-99 stuff.
