Little Big League sure there’s Japanese Breakfast and I do love Michelle’s works but this band just really struck a chord with me.
The Rest a band from Canada that had broken up before I discovered them but damn they were good.

syntacticmistake@kbin.socialto A-League@aussie.zone•[WWC 2023] Australia built it, and they’ve come2·2 years agoComparing the crowds to other football codes misses the point completely. This is a football World Cup. This is as big as the Olympics the local media would have understood that if they weren’t so financially dependent on the other codes.
The Matildas group game and all of the knockout stage games in Melbourne should have been played at Docklands or the MCG but the AFL said no and none of the media dared cross them. Which also means all of the crowd records we’ve set this tournament will be blown away when the next one is held in a football nation.
The real test of the legacy of this World Cup will be how many new fans start turning up to and watching the A-League Women and how many people that subscribed to Optus for the tournament keep their subscription to watch the WSL. I really hope that Football Australia an the APL are already developing a “made in the A-League’s” marketing campaign with the players.

Did a 12 week course that CES subsidised and voila I was a professional. The base cost was like $79 (30 odd years ago) and it was the equivalent of filling in your name and address details in the current system and pressing submit. Every other box that we filled in was an extra $5, unless you had business income. Anyway, some people came in because it was cheaper than an accountant and they couldn’t be arsed doing it themselves the rest were just people with no clue. The number of arguments I had with people telling them that “I could claim your uniform laundry expenses but it won’t change your refund, because you are already getting all of you tax back and I will just have to charge you more money now” was mind boggling.
Filling out the basics of a tax return should be taught in school, it’s not hard.
This fucking clown. I am furious. A home World Cup with arguably the best squad we’ve ever had and he’s going to completely fuck it up. He should have been sacked after the Asian Cup debacle.

syntacticmistake@kbin.socialto Australia@aussie.zone•The Voice referendum official Yes/No pamphlets166·2 years agoYour argument is driven by racism. The same old tired racist arguments that have been floating around since time immemorial.
“People are just claiming they are Aboriginal to get government handouts”
“They’re not really asylum seekers they are economic migrants looking for government handouts”
“They are going to create a new level of government so they can claim government handouts”
They are not getting inequitable representation. They are effectively being given a constitutionally recognised lobby group. The Government of the day will be able to completely ignore them like they ignore climate scientists and environmentalists.
Ok yes. “But then why does it need to be in the constitution” because the Coalition disbanded every non constitutionally recognised group that has ever been created.
A sad day for Mariners fans.
