Gotcha. Those tools work for Windows users, but tend not to work for Linux. So LVFS is how those same updates get delivered to Linux computers, if the machine’s manufacturer provides them to LVFS.
@inaction_figure@faizalr I’ve checked it. According to the docs, it is supported (https://fwupd.org/lvfs/devices/). I’m going to try it out later this week. For now I’m happy that I successfully moved my SSD from my old machine to the new one.

To answer my own question, I went and checked, and LVFS does provide the updates you showed for the T480.
Anyhow, good job keeping your #T480 updated!
@[email protected] Thank you for the explanation. Do you own a T480 as well? Or any Thinkpad?

My daily driver is a refurb #T480, running #Fedora #Kinoite F40.
The T480 is great value for money!
My previous laptop was a slow-but-sturdy T510, running KDE Neon.
@inaction_figure @faizalr fwupd works great on the T480, I’ve used it yesterday. Going to check if it’s working on an T14 Gen2 too.

@M4x nice. It’s make it easier for linux user. Wondering if it’s possible for Arch base linux as well? @inaction_figure

I think so. You may have to install fwupd, as it may not be installed by default.
I just saw this thread where someone is troubleshooting a T480 in Arch with fwupd:
