Too bad the iPhone was a flop. They really lost out on that market. /s
They just couldn’t hold a candle to the brilliance of Windows Phone.
I did actually like the Windows phone but they were just way too late to market. No apps because no users and no users because no apps.
My understanding of the Zune HD (or whatever the iPod Touch competition was) was the same. Technically better in every strict metric, but no app market to speak of.
I loved my Zune. The problem that gets overlooked (usually) is how terrible the software for transferring files was. It didn’t follow any design conventions, was slow, fault intolerant, and didn’t have half the features of other available media managers.
It might have had a chance despite being late to market but it was impenetrable for normal users.
It was so young ago I don’t really remember what it was like software side. The nifty thing I do remember was being able to share a song wirelessly to my friend on the bus who also has a Zune.
They even buried the iPhone https://techcrunch.com/2010/09/10/windows-phone-7-funeral/
In the plot next to MacOS 9.
Tis was a shame 🎻
Apple pivoted to and dominated that very market while Microsoft stood by and let Apple eat their lunch under Ballmer’s watch.
Weird flex reminding people about it now. Is Willy that desperate for attention?
It says the same in the article. He was right, but didn’t take advantage of it as much as he should.
Wow what a genius. No wonder he’s a billionaire.
/s for those not taking their irony pills.
