You don’t need to be on any particular instance to visit any other (so long as your instance isn’t defederated). I picked lemm.ee because it isn’t defederated from much, but more importantly the admin seems to know his stuff and has been making key contributions to the Lemmy codebase (as well as updating his mods into his instance first).

Ideally, I’d like to see us have our own instance, rather than still being on someone else’s platform.
